Huni Kuin – Cacau Rapé

This very strong Huni Kuin Cacau Rapé is mixed with the ash of the native Amazon cacao tree. This wonderful recipe comes from the Huni Kuin tradition. Rapé with cocoa ash is usually a medicine with a redder color. This special rapé is extra strong and contains less ash and more tobacco. It has a deep, earthy and grounding character and consists of a blend of different tobacco varieties. The tobacco varieties Sabia and Moi are used. For the most part, it consists of the extra strong Sabia tobacco and a smaller part of the native moi tobacco. The moi variant of Nicotiana Rustica is milder in strength, but has a delicious taste and a very harmonizing energy.

Theobroma cacao is the scientific name of the cacao tree. In Portuguese it is called cacau. The name of the genus comes from the Greek and means “food of the gods”. Theobromine is an alkaloid found in cocoa that is known as a vasodilator, diuretic, and cardiac stimulant. The word cocoa comes from an adaptation of the Nahuatl (Aztec) “cacaua”. It is the basic form of “cacahuatl”, which means “bean of the cocoa tree”. Cacao is native to the Amazon basin, from where it spread to other parts of the Americas and from there worldwide.
