Shipibo Manta with Ponte Kené Pattern – Hand Embroidered in Pucallpa
This Shipibo Manta (also called “Tela”) was carefully handcrafted by a Shipibo family from Pucallpa in the Peruvian Amazon. At the center is a complex Ponte Kené pattern, framed by traditional geometric and energetic shapes. The embroidery visualizes a web of sacred energies that promotes both protection and alignment.
Symbolism and meaning
Kené means “design” or “pattern” in the Shipibo language and describes the sacred geometries received in vision states during ayahuasca ceremonies. Ponte Kené refers to a particularly dense, central pattern that is considered an energetic node – comparable to a powerful healing center or focal point.
The intricate lines represent the connection of all living beings, the movement of energy, and communication between the material and spiritual worlds. The colours and shapes not only serve aesthetics, but also carry healing frequencies according to the Shiibian view.
