Palo Santo Stick – 1st Grade Quality (Bursera graveolens)
Our Palo Santo Stick in 1st Grade quality is a particularly aromatic, resin-rich smoking wood with the typical,
warm fragrance profile: woody-resinous with gentle citrus notes. Palo Santo means “sacred wood” and is traditionally used for incense in
parts of South America – as a fragrant companion for rituals, meditation, yoga or simply for a
conscious break in everyday life.
1st Grade Quality – What Does It Mean?
- Selected pieces: carefully selected sticks with a beautiful density and even structure
- Resin & fragrance profile: tends to have an intense, round scent when smoked (depending on the natural batch)
- Suitable for rituals: ideal for short, clear incense moments without “heavy” smoke
Fragrance profile
- Scent: warm, woody, slightly balsamic/resinous, delicately lemony
- Atmosphere: clear, calm, “tidy” – popular before ceremonies and sessions
Traditional application
In various traditions of South America, palo santo has long been used as an incense wood to clear rooms,
accompany rituals and create a coherent, focused atmosphere. Today, Palo Santo is popular worldwide as a
natural room fragrance – especially in mindfulness and ritual practices.
Application & Use (How to Smoke Palo Santo Properly)
- Hold one end of the stick in a flame (candle or lighter) for 20-40 seconds.
- Blow out the flame so that the stick glows gently and aromatic smoke rises.
- Spread the smoke around the room (with your hand, feather or fan) or hold the stick in your hand for a short time.
- For breaks, place the stick on a fireproof dish (sand is ideal).
- To finish, carefully squeeze out the embers or let them go out completely in the sand.
Application examples (ritual ideas)
- Room clarification: before a session, after a visit, when moving house or after intensive discussions.
- Meditation & Yoga: Incense 1-2 minutes before starting to set the focus (ventilate well afterwards).
- Altar & Ceremony: as an “opening” with an intention (e.g. gratitude, clarity, protection).
- Evening routine: a short smoking moment as a transition to rest and relaxation.
- Energetic clarification of objects: Briefly pull crystals, cards, instruments, ritual tools through the smoke.
