Double Tepi from Peru – Rapé applicator made of chonta wood

This double tepi is a rapé applicator for use in pairs. It is made in Peru and is made of chonta wood, a very hard, dense palm wood that is prized for its stability and durability.

The applicator is finished with a beaded wrap in red, green & yellow . The geometric patterns are visually based on design forms of the Shipibo-Konibo culture and serve as decorative elaboration. It is not a traditional ceremonial object.

Application

A double tepi is used for rapé application between two people. The double mouth guide allows for direct, controlled transmission and is suitable for conscious rituals, ceremonies or personal practice in a ritual context.

Thanks to the firm structure of the chonta wood, the applicator is stable in the hand and supports even application.
