Shipibo Altar Cloth «Ponte Kené» – Hand-embroidered pattern from the Peruvian Amazon
This altar cloth was made by Shipibo-Conibo artisans in the Peruvian rainforest in fine hand embroidery. The geometric kené pattern is probably the best-known means of expression of this tradition: a visual language that is closely linked to the healing songs (Icaros) and the closeness to nature of the Shipibo.
The present design follows the Ponte Kené. Ponte means “straight”: the pattern consists of clear, straight lines that lead back to the centre again and again. In the tradition of Shipibo, this Kené is associated with focus, clarity and the power to lead projects from idea to completion.
The cloth is suitable as a base for your altar or mesa, for laying out ceremonial objects, as a seat pad for meditation and sound journeys or as a decorative wall hanging. The rich greens with contrasting borders in yellow, red, blue and purple give any room a calm, focused vibe.
Each piece is made by hand and is unique.

Care
