Shipibo Manta with Kené Pattern and Ayahuasca Bottles – Hand Embroidered in Pucallpa
This hand-embroidered shipibo manta from the Peruvian Amazon features a powerful kené pattern in the center, surrounded by detailed embroidery with ayahuasca bottles (botellas de medicina) and plant motifs. Each element tells of the deep connection between man, nature and the spirit world – as understood in the Cosmovision of the Shipibo-Konibo.
Symbolism and meaning
The central Kené pattern represents the invisible energy lines that permeate all life. The Shipibo say that these patterns become visible when you get in touch with the plant spirits – especially through ayahuasca. The four ayahuasca bottles at the corners symbolize the preparation and preservation of the sacred medicine. They represent both the material and spiritual dimensions of plant medicine.
The wraparound plant motif is reminiscent of chakra leaves and other master plants that promote protection, clarity and connection to the spirit world.
