The sap is harvested through fine incisions in the bark and lightly thickened in the air. Its intense red colour and viscous consistency gave it the name “Dragon’s Blood”.

In the cultures of the Peruvian Amazon, Sangre de Drago has been valued for centuries and still plays a role in ritual and ceremonial practices today. In modern natural cosmetics, the tree resin is used for external application on the skin.
